It's nice to have a clean and tidy home. It makes it much easier to relax and enjoy that much needed break when the chores are done.
Products for cleaning your home can take out a fair chunk of the grocery budget. With a multitude of products available for different purposes like surface sprays, disinfectants, toilet cleaners, bathroom and shower cleansers, it is easy to build up a collection to rival any supermarket cleaning aisle!
But cleaning your home doesn't need to cost a fortune and there is no need to have a varied range of brands for individual purposes. All you need is a few household ingredients which you may already have in your pantry. These are, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda.
Both of these products are extremely cheap to buy with a supermarket brand of white vinegar costing $1.20 for 2 litres and the same brand of bi-carb soda costs only $1.60 for 500g. For just a few dollars you have everything you need to make your home sparkle.
Bi carb soda makes a great cleaning paste for sinks and baths. You can find a recipe for it
here. Keep a small tub of bi-carb in the fridge to banish odors or sprinkle it on your carpet as a deodorizer before vacuuming .
Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and is ideal to use in place of bleach. It can be used undiluted to clean toilets and showers, or you can make up a diluted spray to use in the kitchen.
The combination of both these ingredients together is perfect for cleaning drains.
By making this small change to your household you can save hundreds of dollars per year and have a positive impact on the environment.
