To get the best bargains at a supermarket it's a good idea to research the catalouges to see what's on offer. Annoyingly though, supermarkets rarely seem to stock enough of the products on offer, and you can often feel like your trip has been wasted. Never fear, there's a cool concept called the 'raincheck' available at leading Australian supermarkets so that you can get your item at sale price, even when it is not in stock.

How Does it Work?
Operating within Coles and Woolworths and a number of other high street stores this shopping tip means that even if you find that the shelves are empty on a product that is on special offer, all you need to do is speak to a member of staff or go to the service desk, and they'll write you up a 'rain check' which is basically a slip of paper entitling you to purchase the product at the sale price when it is next in stock.
When the item is back in stock, you just take it to the till point and pass your rain check slip to the cashier and you'll get it at the sale price (even after it has gone up to full price).
Rain checks are typically valid for 30 days, but check with each shop for their terms and conditions.
This is a great way to make sure that you don't miss out on a bargain, even when the shops run out of the product on sale.
Have you ever rain-checked an item?
