If you are looking to earn some extra money to make ends meet, folding and delivering pamphlets or the local newspaper can be great way of earning extra cash.
You do not need any specific set of skills to do this and can earn anything from $15-$30 a week for only a few hours work. A great advantage of this job is it is flexible, and can be done in your own time. Making it ideal work for stay at home mums, students, casual employees or anyone with a few spare hours on their hands. An added bonus is that you are getting paid for keeping fit when it comes time to deliver the papers.
How to get started
A great way to begin is to contact your local newspaper. They will often advertise positions when they become available or if you are not getting your community newspaper or catalogues delivered to your mailbox, then this may indicate that they need someone to fill that position and this is how I got started.
Where to begin
Generally the newspaper group will give you some maps to let you know what rounds and areas are available and how many papers need to be delivered in each one. Payment depends on a few factors like how many pages are in each paper, a thicker newspaper equals more money. It also depends on how many houses are on your route as well as if there are catalogues to be added in when folding the papers.
Once you have agreed to a route, you will fill in some paperwork stating what is expected and also fill in your bank account details so payments can be processed.
You will have a certain day, in which the papers and pamphlets need to be picked up from a location, and then there will be a cut off day in which all the papers need to be folded and delivered by. This is usually about 2 days. In my experience folding our 200 papers and adding catalogues will take around 2 hours and delivery around 1 hour so it is very easy to get it all done by the allocated time.
