If you're a wine-lover like myself, then you understand how frustrating it is to want amazing and expensive wine with no money to buy it with. For a long time, I would just go to my local supermarket and buy bottles of wine at random, usually based on whether I liked the label or if it was the cheapest. Today, though, I am determined to buy wines that I know I like, and try to get them as cheap as possible. Here are some wine shopping tips for all of you wine-lovers.

Buy What You Like

When you buy a bottle of wine randomly off the shelf, there is a pretty good chance that you will not like it. Buying bad wine because you thought the label was pretty is like throwing money out the window. If you know what you like, stick with it, it can turn out to be an excellent value.

If you do not know what you like, you have to experiment. Be open to wine recommendations and go to wine tasting events. When you do find something that you like make sure to write it down.

Search For Those Bargains

As much as I love wine, I always hate having to purchase a $30 bottle of something that I am going to end up drinking. I always keep my eyes out for those wine bargains.

- When you find a bottle you like, always buy wine by the case. Ask your favourite wine store if you can order a case of the wine you like. Make sure to also ask if that would earn you a discount. Search for stores that have your favourite wine on sale and buy a case there, you'll probably end up saving a lot on each bottle!

- Wait for a sale. Supermarkets are always putting wine on sale. To find the best deals, especially wine in bulk, wait for the holidays. Many supermarkets will put wine on sale during the holidays to get people to buy as much wine as possible.

- Make use of daily wine deals online. You can buy cheap wine online on daily deal sites like Viti, Lot 18, and WineMarket. You can buy wine online at these sites where they offer high discounts anywhere from 30 percent to 70 percent off the suggested retail price.

Buying wine online can seem like all fun and games, especially when there are so many discounts available to you at your fingertips. You have to stay focused, though. Just because wine has a special discount doesn't mean it's a great buy. Stick with your short list that you have made and pay what you can afford. Don't overdo it just because the deals are "too good to pass up."

Buying Wine For Someone Special

Let's face it, buying a wine gift for someone is very generous. Going into the store and deciding what kind of wine to buy for someone can seem really stressful. There are plenty of wine gifts online in Australia that you can purchase, like Wine Only and Vintage Cellars, making it less stressful and creates more of an opportunity to find those online deals.

As stated above, it is really difficult to buy a bottle of wine for someone else, especially when it is supposed to be a mothers day gift. My mom is very picky about her wine so this is a very stressful time for me. Do your research and see if her favourite bottle of wine is online at a site that is having a big mother's day sale.

Choosing wine shouldn't be so difficult. There are many different ways to find your favourite wine at the cheapest price. Do your research and go save some money.
